On light soils you need drip on narrower centers and emitters closer together. In row spacing is also a factor
Example is our standard for onions is tape on 12”, 8” emitters.
When we used to do a lot of melons it was 18” emitters, tape on 60” centers.
Toro and rivualis both have good factsheets on emitter and row spacing online. Find a decent sales rep who can talk you through what options there are. Permanent or semi-perm has a lot of advantages.
