Actually, they were not like that from new. they get washed out. Have had several do that and, like clockwork, it happens at around 140,000 acres with the spraying that I do. If you look at the end of the plug it is rough and if you take the snail apart and look at the inside where the plugs screw in, the hole is wallowed out. I would drill and tap those holes to 1/4" pipe and put the bigger plugs and good for another 100,000 acres or so. I went to a SS pump after wearing out the snail on a couple iron pumps (after the 1/4" plugs wash out I throw the snail away) and have yet to have this happen to it but don't know how many acres are on it. A LOT more than 140,000 for sure.
