Subject: RE: Plant canola, convert it to diesel fuel?

Milford, IL
I did the same about 15 years ago. Full size 83 Buick with Oldsmobile Diesel engine, I blended roughly 2/3s filtered restaraunt fryer oil with 1/3 diesel in the summer. Engine started hard but otherwise ran the same as 100% diesel, maybe a little less diesel engine clatter on the vegetable oil blend and the exhaust smelled like french fries.

I consider it a failed expermient, after about 3000 miles the engine would starve for fuel after about 30 miles of travel. I figured it killed the pump and I sold the car to a friend for not much money. He rebuilt the injection pump and it behaved the same way, neither of us ever did figure it out.
