Hillsboro,Texas
I have done many of these in NTX with the AC system... If you are building a new house and going to foam it, get contractors that have worked with it before.Get the AC contractors do run a heatload on the house with the reduce infiltration, rules of thumb do not apply (so many square feet per ton).A foam house is a different creature. The "R" values are not nuch different, it is reduceing the "infiltration" from the outside is the real benefit. But with that in mind, you will be living in a icechest, so you have to design for that.. If you heating with gas, then I suggest only using the 2 pipe 90% furnace, this are ones that vent with PVC and you bring in outside air for combustion, not ventilation, and this applies to water heaters. But on the ventilation, use must bring in fresh air and exhaust air, it is called air changes.. A HRV or ERV should be adequate. When calculateing the air changes, everthing must be considerd, ie. bathroom exhaust, kitchen exhaust, clothes dryers and fireplaces..As mentioned, only use contractors, that are familiar with this type of design-----remember you will be living in an icechest...
