Yorktown, TX | We run Kuhn, JD, and Vicon. I like the jd and Kuhn. Parts are cheap, and there are no shafts going through the bar. Just gears and bearings. Simple and effective design. I have a '92 Kuhn that cut about 400-500 acres per year from 92-98; a little less from then on when I bought it. It just got me out of a bind last yr. I pulled the belts too tight on the 05 Jd and put out a bearing in the gearbox. These cutters have only had blades, belts, and the domes welded. Not much maintenance at all. We are very pleased with our cutters. The Vicon is good, but we've only had it for a year, and had to modify one of the bearing holder designs on the pto shaft. Fixed it already, and there have not been any problems, but that is a 13' pull cutter. | |
