We had one that was so old the compressor was on the outside. We got rid of it because it was running all of the time and rusted out. Hit it with a sledge at the seam and gallons of water ran out. needed to cut it into pieces, because it came with the house in 1962, and there was no way it was going through the door. We got one from the 1950s after that one from my grandma, and just last year got rid of that one. A guy from town bought that one, because we knew we could get it out of the basement. Now we have a small one, which probably won't last near as long as those old ones.
