Subject: Is 50 years old for a Freezer ?

Alberta, Canada
Off topic here but I was talking the other day with friends about Freezers. I was saying I've had my freezer 19 years now, which I got from my mother. She had it for over 30 years so this thing is over 50 years old!

So is it a time bomb waiting to quit or did they build them good back then? I've heard the new ones use half the energy.

I've never bothered with the darn thing as its worked non stop now for years and never given any grief.
