Yes, coulters and mud don't go together. That is one reason we've made the coulter assembly easy to remove (one bolt) on our 1572 and 2003 combos. Many customers just ran the Trashwheel up high this spring in real wet conditions.

One or preferably two Curvetines per row can help with crusting if you leave the dimples and not try to leave the soil surface too smooth behind the planter.
