Subject: RE: planting in stripper header stubble

Somerville, Indiana
Here, we plant corn after DC beans last. Ground temp is warm by then and we don't have to worry about wheat straw. 'Here' cleaning the ground off before planting puts us right back to where we were when we worked the ground with a compactor [disk], problems with emergency after a rain in wet weather. We have row cleaners but seldom use them anymore. Type of planter and your conditions will change that of course.
