Somebody has to defend the other claim, and I don't think it can be done.   Just saying it lends no more credibility then just saying it is wrong does.

The one row planter can achieve high efficiency if it never has to turn around.  Yippy yay, now why can't the big planter achieve the same high efficiencly if it never has to turn around?  It can.  This is a bogus arguement because 250 mile long fields do not exist.  You have to turn around every half mile or mile or two miles or whatever regardless of the size of the planter.

Fill time per acre should be pretty close to the same, assuming both size planters hold a similar amount of seed per row.  You still have to put a bag of seed in for every 80,000 kernals planted.

Maintenance time also will be similar per acre regardless of how many rows you are covering per pass.  You have to use the same amount of grease whether it is used to grease 48 rows each once, or one row 48 times.  It takes the same amount of time to pump the tube of grease out either way....but actually that's not true, because the time to get out of the tractor, go get the tools, and then put them away when done is the same whether you do 48 rows while you are at it, or only one.  The difference is that you have to get the grease gun out 48 seperate times for the 1 row, and only once for the 48 row.
