Pennyrile, West Ky. | A super charger does the same thing as a turbo charger, difference being that instead of spinning the blades with exhaust gases, they are spun with a bit of the engines own power,,usually driven by a belt, advantage being there is no turbo "lag", You don't notice lag on a tractor because of the constant engine speed, on a car, if your running at a slow speed and then gouge it, the turbo has to spool up before it can provide the boost that makes if effective, superchargers spool up with the throttle, instantly providing the boost with no lag, that's pretty well the jest of it, my wife's mazda millenia has one, it makes 6 pistons that are probably no bigger than a pop can go Zoom, Zoom, Zoom,,,,,,knock on wood, its got about 140k on it and no problems............ | |
