Subject: Re: chopping corn heads

Sheldon, ND
We did not like our geringhoff rotadisc. I just loved having to chip frozen crap away from the three grease zerks on each row every morning. Two years in a row we had to take the stationary knives off cause they were wore out. I thought there was something wrong with the combine. Replaced the fuel filters but still low power. Took the knives off and it was whole different combine. I thought it was a maintenance nightmare. We have a john deere chopper coming. The fields that were done with the jd last year I thought looked really good. I don't know what is simpler than taking two bolts out and slipping in a new knife or flipping them over. And no grease zerks on the front of the stalk rolls to grease every day. I will never ever look at a geringhoff again. Oh and it don't go through down corn. We told them about it not going through down corn and we got told by one of the german engineers that we shouldn't raise corn that falls over. What a comment!
