South Georgia | No, I think you're picturing it right. I'm not sure this would flow enough to hinder you in pumping from a creek or something, though it may not help, either. How can you get it to prime from a water source below the level of the pump, anyway? If you're manually filling the pump with water through that top plug, then I still don't think this will hinder you. After all, you've got your main pressure line open, at that point, anyway, don't you?
This may not be worth doing in your situation, but if the tank is above the level of the pump, it works flawlessly. It may not be worth any more than you paid for it, though, in your circumstance. ;)
