Do a little burning – prairie restorations and restoring scrub forest to oak savannah. Adding a surfactant to the water improves its effectiveness a lot. Forest Service has done tests of commercially available surfactants. Best bang for the buck is dishwashing detergent. Doesn’t take much. Can either mix in the tank or use a siphon injector on the output line.

If throw is an issue, a 6” (or longer) tapered nozzle which tries to create a smooth laminar flow is useful. If flow is really important, make a true laminar flow nozzle. If nothing else, a laminar flow nozzle will d***le your friends. You can walk under an arc and not get a drop on you.

A fixed boomless nozzle (or two) controlled from the tractor is also nice. Sometimes thing don't go the way they are suppose to. Consider a cam-lock connector after your ball valve to connect to different nozzles. Tyvek (welders) coveralls (disposable but still re-useable) and leather shoes for the crew (me). Have spent the last few years trying to figure out how one person can burn prairies safely. Different thought process – think of using a burner between two spray nozzles to create a fire line.
