We use a shank set-up in the spring. It works pretty good for us. Its a 12 row 30" Ag Systems rig; which is a shank style row unit. very simple to run. I like the idea of getting all your fertilizer right under the seed at once. You cant put N in the ground in the fall and expect all it to hang around. We've been playing with this for 6 years and still learning. Hope this helps.
