Subject: RE: Impeller conditioner VS Rubber on rubber conditioner

Thunder Bay, Ontario, Great White North
I had a 945 impeller, good machine and I liked the way it conditioned - I know it was supposed to be bad but I didn't see a big loss in alfalfa. Worked great in grass. One cutterhead bearing went out late last summer, no time to tear apart the entire cutterbar to ensure it was fixed properly so I traded it as is for a NH 1431 roll conditioner. I like the fact that there are more than a dozen 1431s in my neighborhood, lots of spare parts around - a consideration when the dealer is 5+ hours away. I think the JD did a better job on grass, probably a wash in alfalfa but the NH is a LOT easier to pull due to less weight. We run a IH 3288 (90 hp) on the mower it handles the NH a bunch better than the Deere.

Ask me in 2 months about the 1431, I've only ran it over a couple hundred acres so far.

EDIT - I almost forgot about the moose calf I ran through the impeller at 2am a couple years back. Big mess but it went through without plugging.
