S.C. Wisconsin
I am not going to get into the debate about rolls vs impeller but when you talk a NH 1441/1442 being a better machine that's where I beg to differ. We do custom hay cutting and had a 1441 and the disc cutters heads are junk compared to a JD. The individual gear boxes are nothing but a selling point. You a bunch more seals to leak, and they do, the shaft joints wear out and I could go on and on. Bought a JD and never had a bit of problems with the gear box in 5 years of cutting 4000 acres per year. The hesston has a similar gear box to the JD and they never give us trouble either. We change to oil every year and it was one pain to do that on the NH.
