Kittitas Co. Wa. State

uh,, bicycles, old tires, and assorted farm animals ??  lol.. got any room left for hay to get thru the conditioner ??  Laughing

Here there are both steel on steel conditioners, and "stripper" conditioners, (flail type conditioners) and both are run in 4-5 ton/ac 1st cutting timothy. Strippers are nice as they don't plug. But far as dry down time it is a complete toss-up,, there 'may' be 1 day's difference in drydown time but there are so many other variables it's hard to catagoically state "stripper" conditions are all that much better in timothy.

When I say 'drydown' I am talking about the hay being in the 5-8 percent moisture when baled. 10% is about the absolute MAX baling moisture,, and the hay will have to sit for a long time to dry down before anyone will buy it.

I run a steel on steel and have the tension set alot tighter than JD manual says to set it at.

It really is a toss up in grass type hay.
