Subject: RE: Bull longevity

I bought a 2 yr old Hereford bull yesterday with decent EPD's for under the herd average price. There were several bulls that brought twice his money but I don't believe they were twice the bull. I think this bull's deep red color and lack of traditional white markings were enough that he turned off some buyers. His EPD numbers are:
CE = 0.2
BW = 1.2
WW=44
YW=70
MM=19
M&G=41

Scrotal = 40.8cm
10/11/10 weight = 1125
12/27/10 weight= 1280

I paid $2100 for this bull. The last bulls I bought from this same breeder at his 2007 sale I gave $1600 each for. Pretty much got my purchase price back out of them selling after breeding season last fall.
