So you don't have much expense in owning and licensing trucks and trailers and depreciation in the application machinery and fuel and repairs and labor and variable rate machinery.. You can save a little but it's not much unless you need thousand of tons.


I don’t own any of the equipment solely for spreading lime.

Truck pulls hopper, van trailer and dump
Dump trailer is used for gravel, lime, firewood, etc
Spreader is for both lime and fertilizer
Tractor is for…well, anything I want it to do
Loader tractor is used for hay, cattle and whatever….

$150 per hour is what I figured for the truck and driver.
$12 per acre for the lime spreading…that may be light when figuring the loader tractor too especially on higher tonnage fields but it should cover expenses.

Again, these numbers are for our situation and may not apply to anyone else.
