western iowa,by Denison | i buy lots of calves off the ranch-not many sell by the head-a lot of sellers want more then they bring at the sale barn-its got to be a 2 way street
I could pick 2-5 head out of every bunch that will not meet uniformity
we have bought around 40% of the calves by the head this year,i paid to much, the rancher is happy-I would rather feed a to high dollar calf they feed a cheaper 6-7wt calf
usually harder to start backround weaned calves then to start bawling calves, really like the no creep feeder calves, and once there over 600# seems there is no profit left
I'm just a cattle feeder-I would guess that the cowman will just bypass the cattle feeder in 10 years and just feed them out himself-its really easy work, compared to running cows. | |
