The guys at Berry Cam showed me their cam grinder years ago. Interesting, but can't imagine engineering the machine to start with.
Don't they heat the raw blank of steel before they forge the cranks into shape? Its amazing what a person can create if they hit a block of steel with enough force and have a die that can give it the right shape.
