Wheatsurfer, you gave a very good answer, without actually quoting any scripture., especially the part about the mechanic.

Here's another thought for you TMRAND, in many places in scripture, it says that Jesus died for the church. Acts 20:28 says, "be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood." The definition of the church is "the called out". Who would that be? Thats people who have repented and put on Christ in baptism. Jesus is the head of the church, we (Christians) are the body, the church.

Another scripture says in Acts 2:47 "And the Lord added to the church daily, such as should be saved." (King James version) The saved were added to the church after baptism. The early Christians stuck together spiritually for survival. being with other Christians on a regular basis should help us be more like Jesus. (learning more about him, kinda like the guy who visited a garage wanting to learn to be a mechanic better mechanic)

Here's another non scriptural analogy. Suppose you have a fire (a church)and in that fire there are many glowing coals (Christians). If you take one of the glowing coals out of the fire and set it on the hearth, what happens? The coal starts to cool and will soon go completely out and get cold. The message there is that in order to keep the fire going, the coals need to be together, just as Christians need to be together, at least from time to time.

You talked about "blind faith". Hebrews 11:1 says , "Now faith is being SURE of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see". That's a faith that I can trust, many people today seem to have faith in things that just aren't there. Read the whole chapter 11 to read about faith.

Hope this helps you.
