Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot | Now Don, give the hay squeeze guys a break. We are not used to the poles in the barn saying 'hi' to us. ;)
I think part of it is, running a squeeze (particularly with small bales) is your kind of on edge anyway watching for little problems... that can become big problems if you don't pay attention. Used to have a string of guys that liked to load early in the morning if things got busy. You'd be still a little sleepy, loading a hay truck out of some barn at 4 am and have a damn cat or barn owl jump down on the roof or fly into or around your squeeze, really makes a guy jump. Half of it is you don't know if the stack just fell down or what it is until it is gone. It happened a few time now and I don't jump so much, but the first time a barn owl flew out of the dark into my lights I liked to have screamed like a girl. | |
