| We had a lot of issues with our 1200, some of it was poorly engineered in my opinion and some of it was poor quality control. We had a row unit that was wrong from the factory. It was about 1" shorter than the rest of them when measured from where the front of the metering unit mounts to where it latches. You had to really force it and kind of bend the plastic to get it to latch and the "dogs" would not catch the ears on the drive sprocket. We discovered it when putting the seed disks in the first day we were ready to plant corn but luckily it was a split row planter so we were able to swap it and plant with it on 30" while waiting on the new warranty part. It should have thrown up a red flag to someone when they had to force the meter on to the unit but I guess not. In your friends situation, I dont think I would allow them to take a torch to my new planter unless its just a temporary fix to get him running unil they can actually fix it right. | |
