Subject: JD 1535 Drill service?

South central, Nebraska
What service details should I be aware of with a used 1535 soybean drill besides gauge wheel pivot grease and chains?.

I believe this drill had been kept inside until it was set on the lot for resale last summer. Chains did pickup some rust but I have them in a bucket of oil/diesel now.

How do some of you guys handle the chain lubrication on this drill? I looks like a good planting rig but it is quite tight working quarters on the row units under the platform.

Are the rubber gaskets that fit between the supply hose and mini hopper really necessary? I have a few that are torn and one was missing. With the seed being gravity delivery, I didn't see those to be too critical unless they are needed to keep the graphite from spilling out before it gets to the meters?

I would be interested in any operating tips you have to offer also?

How many pounds of seed does one of the feed tubes and mini seed hopper hold?

TIA
