The lights on the sensors only indicate that there is power back to the sensor. I would check for continuity between the green wire on the harness side back at the sensor and the main connector contacts at the hitch. Pins 1-16 on the 37 pin hitch connector should have contact to the corresponding row signal wire, ex. green wire on row 2 should have contact with #2 on Amp connector. If the junction was pinched when he drove through the low spot, it is likely the signal wires for those rows could have pulled or been broken.
