Brazilton KS

"Back in the day" I ran the 4430 and 904 Krause disk incorporating herbicide.   Once you got past the plow or chisel plow, it was practically our only tillage tool.  Working tilled soil, i would run over the spools, in hard, untilled soil, maybe 4" deep.  22" blades minus however much wear was on them.   Generally ran B2, about 6 mph.   Also had an F90 Rhino for a few years...it would run over the spools in pretty much hard ground, but the 4430 had all it wanted to get it up to 4 mph in B1.

We had a 15' Wilbek offset that the 4430s would play with.  It was a much more aggressive, heavier disk then the Krauses.  The 4010 would just barely pull it....or the 904, for that matter.

But....a 480 or 490 International is certainly no "heavy" disk.

Currently we have a couple 40-42' 2100 series Krauses.... heavier then the old 904, wearing 24" (minus wear) blades.  We can pull  5.5 mph with a 350 hp Challenger.  Disks are a lot more friendly if you don't try to pull them too fast.
