Driftless SW Wisconsin

As my kids used to say, "Duh, Dad!" It's been a long day.

Yes, I changed to it 1200 acres. But I think that is on the low side. But it depends on conditions.

for most folks once a year catches it. However we have had dry conditions like Texas and with dry fertilizer flying all over, greasing the units during a rain delay halfway through the season may be a safer thing to do...

There just is no one answer except they do NOT need to be greased daily!

What you could do is to try greasing one row and see what comes out around the seal. If it is dirt or takes a lot of grease to purge than it may be worth going through all rows, esp with dry fertilizer being used.

Another conservative approach would be to just regrease the three coulter hubs in mid season. Trashwheels and the gage wheels hub seals are not in as dirt prone areas. In any of the hubs please use Mobil XHP222 or equivalent grease. This is a heavy, dark blue high lithium grease sold under a number of tradenames.
