Driftless SW Wisconsin

Nate, I'll add two points that come up:

1) How much grease do I apply to each Dawn hub?  This comes up almost daily in the field - grease all Dawn hubs to "purge" meaning until you see grease coming out around the seal.

YOU CAN NOT DAMAGE THE SEAL ON DAWN HUBS BY OVER GREASING.

This is not a standard u-type shaft seal, this is a radial triple lip seal running on a nylon ring. It is meant to be able to purge grease. This lubricates the seal runnign surface and also forces dirt, moisture, fertilizer etc out.  This is reason, along with ease of access, that the grease point is on the front surface of Dawn hubs. Please remove the stainless steel plug, hand screw in a 1//8 npt std grease zerk, grease to purge, then remove the zerk and reinstall the SS plug once a year or as Joe points out about every 100 acres per row (=1200 acres on a 12 row unit). For most folks once a year catches it.

2) There is a new Dawn Pluribus strip till startup instruction sheet/check list. This is not available on our website. Please call in to the office on Monday am and someone will email it you as a Pluribus dealer or user.

Regards,

Jim at Dawn
