Subject: RE: Anyone know a bit about hard surfacing?

Manitoba, Canada.
Don't do it. We bought Dutch openers for our air seeder. They are a NH3 knife with a seed spout. We hard surfaced about half of the knifes last fall before doing around 1600 acres of Nh3. The hard surface rod turned all the knives brittle and the points ended up breaking off. So far I have replaced about 11 of them. I'm buying new tips and getting the old ones ground off and re-welded. We farm in the red river valley and don't have stones, so I can't even blame it on that either !
