The problem you will have with both tools is that even though you have them clean you will still get splatter from carbon and crap getting heated up inside the mettle. I just wire brush mufflers and pipe any more and put a small welding tip in my torch then grab a 3 or 4 ft long piece of clean baling wire and go at it heat the muffler mettle up red when then lay the baling wire up there and hit it with the torch, it will lay in there like butter. If it lolls rough just go back over it with the torch and smother it out. It works much better than a wire feed on thin Iron I think. I don't know about holding strength I would not want to weld up a hitch or anything important but for exhaust work it works great. Jon
