Thats pretty big wire for the job. Not that I'm an expert by any means, but I have tried to weld 16 and 18 ga with .035, its pretty tough to do without a lot of burn through. If you can go to .030 or better yet .023 easily, you'll be happier. Otherwise, the Tig is really a better choice.
