I need to modify a muffler, and in the end need to weld some new ~16Ga. steel to the existing ~18Ga. muffler. The muffler is used, but solid. I have cleaned the rust from the areas that will need to be welded, so it.s pretty clean metal. I can try to mig weld it myself, (larger welder, .035 wire) but I'm a bit afraid I'd burn through.
I also know a guy with a TIG welder. he's pretty good with it from what I hear. I know very little about TIG= Is this a job better suited for him?
