I had considered something similar. After looking into it I decided not to proceed. You have to consider the weight of what your hanging on the frame. Is it heavier than what is now on there? Is the frame heavy enough to give the machine weight to go in the ground? Will it fold properly with the added weight.
If you proceed, I would go with 15" spacing. 20" is too wide for wheat and 10" adds weight, cost and is not necessary.
Dry would certainly be an option to look at if you can handle it.
