EC Indiana | Where are you running the down pressure on the closing wheels? They probably will need to be in float or in the first notch. Keatons are also very important. If you have them set too close together they will be more apt to plug and lift seed. With high residue and root balls, I agree with others that row cleaners may be necessary. We haven't used them alot in tilled ground. If they are the larger diameter ones (I forget the measurement), you could try one martin and one rubber tire. The only times that I can remember they have plugged on us are: drag chain flips/jumps forward and stops them, perfect size rock between them, bearing going out, heavy chickweed.
