I have not had much problem, but I normally do not use Duracell much. My local store does not stock that brand.

A couple years ago, Popular Science mag published a story warning about running alkaline battery's very low.
They said that when an alkaline battery gets very near used up, it starts to build up internal gas pressure.
They said that alkaline battery has a "blowout plug" to pop out and relieve the gas pressure so the battery has no chance of exploding. The down side is that when this plug blows out, it releases caustic battery fluid into the device.
This should not happen to a battery that still has a good % of life left.
You are not alone, Google says others have had leaking Duracell . They also say duracell will warranty the damage.
