yes, i've done that alot, never with any problems...besides the stress factor you talked about, I like the way it looks in wheat. another thing it does (in theory) is prevents any side drafting in the case of hoe drills and cultivators - on every pass both the left and right wings are engaged in equal ground - it that makes sense???
