It was pretty common around here for farmers to have a TV in the kitchen. When they got a break they would use that time to eat. Being a farmer they multi-tasked by eating and watching TV to catch up on the weather, local news and world events. Many times the kitchen was the only place in the house a farmer was allowed to go with dirty clothes and boots on.

And you had best be quite when the noon market report came on. Had to catch the grain and livestock reports while having dinner. Well, it was dinner when at Grandpa and Grandmas for the noon break from farm work. It would've been lunch at home.
