You make some excellent points. I would not use duals. I would use a smaller tractor if possible. I pulled a 6 row planter for 20 years with an IH 674, IH 884, and CIH 695. All of these are light weight 6000 pound utility tractors and all were without any weights. I never had a traction problem. I currently have a CIH 1200 8 row 30 planter and pull it with a CIH 5250 10000 pound tractor with no weights. I have seen data that shows significant yield reduction on the pinch rows with duals. The row between the duals is compacted on both sides and yields less than rows that are compacted on only one side. With a 6 row planter, use a light tractor and no duals.
