Subject: RE: Question for CATGUY

Iowa
I've been scanning the CAT parts website and looking at the 3196 "machine" engines "Rod and Piston" groups. IF the two numbers that you are seeing on top of the pistons are 111-2669 and 197-9328; they are OK. The later number(197-9328) is just an updated number. You might also be seeing a REMAN part number of 0R8189, which is a complete cylinder pack(rod,piston,skirt,liner,o-rings) with the 197-9328 piston (piston crown) . I was currently looking at a 85E Challenger with the engine serial number prefix of "6AR" on this example. This seems to be a very common piston (piston crown) part # while I was scanning some different serial numbers. I wrote this hopeing it might be enough info for you.
