Subject: RE: Hydraulic Pump on PTO for Air Cart

NW Washington
The Surplus Center in Nebraska has a bunch of Prince PTO pumps in different sizes. A gallon has 231 cubic inches so pump displacement times RPM gets you cubic inches/minute. Divide cubic inches per minute by 231 to get Gallons per Minute. A 5.7 cubic inch pump at 1000 RPM gets you 24.7 GPM by my figures. I doubt that the fan motor takes much pressure to run it, it just needs the right flow rate. Try to match up pump and motor flow rates so you don't have to by-pass a lot of oil. I think the fan on a JD air cart takes 16 gpm to run, so find out what you actually need. By-passed oil creates heat. http://www.surpluscenter.com/sort.asp?UID=2009030810380420&catname=...
