Deereman, The coolant level sensor is the most comon cause of engine shut down but the easiest way to check is to just unplug the sensor. The check engine light will remain lit constantly but because the ecm is reading high voltage for the sensor & will not shut down.
The other sensors that can shut you down are the coolant temp, oil temp & oil pressure. Disconnect these one by one to narrow down your problem.
