If I were you I would stear clear of the 351 period. If you want a Ford and want to go gas the 460 is a way better engine, we ran one for years and got 14-16 MPG, the 351 we had ran closer to 8, it was simply a gutless gas hog. As far as suspension for a farm truck I would try to stay away from the independent front susp, and go with something with a straight axle-350. If you looked you should be able to find a 2wd in fair shape for under 4000. If you wanted to go diesel I would try to find something with a turbo. In the end you will get what you pay for... Any 3/4 or 1 ton in fair shape is usually worth 3-4K no matter how old it is. -John
