Well Mark, It will only take one to sour you on humanity. Sold some silage equipment to a fellow Hoosier 3 hours away, and against my advice, Dad took a personal check. Picked up the equipment on a Saturday morning and stopped payment on the check first thing Monday. At this point, he wanted to renegotiate the price.
Dad finally got his money less, the third the lawyer took for his services.
It is possible, you are good enough to tell the honest man from the thief. The really unfortunate thing is, as times get tougher, even an honest man will steal.
