One other possibility is gear failure in the pto . Our 1480 started to have trouble holding rotor rpm and as harvest went on,started to eat the "pto belt" ( Big multi strand V belt from the pto to the jackshaft.). It got to the point that it would destroy a belt in less than a day. Either reduce it to shreds or simply snap it off cleanly. We replaced the V pulleys on pto and jackshaft thinking that they had to be worn enough to be slipping and destroying the belts. That was money spent for no gain. I had to be told by three dealerships that the failing pto gears were causing a vibration that was destroying the belts before I would believe them. I finally removed the inspection cover on the pto and found that the pto gear teeth were spalling off, although the thing ran with no noise. A pto rebuild with new bearings and improved tighter fitting gears and main shaft ended the problem.
