Hell of a place for a sinkhole. Is sinkhole a problem in your area Jon? We have problems with them in FL in certain spots when it get real dry.

Not right in my area, but 60-100 miles SW and NW there is a lot of shallow coal deposits.
In those areas the coal seam may come to the surface in spots where prairie fires and lightning can ignite the coal which burns out and leaves a thinly capped hole, that along with abandoned tunnel mining that finally caves in.
In one area of the state we have burning underground coal that has been on fire for 200 + years.
