First thing to do is get rid of those blasted pellet baits.  Get the bar type the rodents have to chew on to carry.  Mice will carry pellet bait incredible distances unharmed because they don't have to consume it to carry it.

Back when I did LP service work a customer called because his Warm Morning stove was not burning properly.  I opened a newspaper up on the floor, took the burner out and dumped over a quart of d-con pellets on the paper the mice had stored inside the stover burner.
