| Actually, an open center system with load sensing valves gives perhaps 90% of the advantages of a closed center system while eliminating most of it's drawbacks, and maintaining most of the simplicity of open center systems. Having a decent flow control and the ability to operate multiple valves simultaneously, can be a considerable advantage to some of us.
The systems that Ford used are actually quite simple once you get your head around how they work... and they're generally quite reliable.
