I prefer to pull my own samples. A local lab........80 miles away, charges me $6.50 per sample to run a basic test plus C.E.C. and Base Saturation. They have ran my samples for over 20 years and I have never had any surprises......... pick a soil lab and stay with them as they all run tests a little differently.
I pull 6 cores per 2.5 acres every 3rd year. I like to pull my own so I ensure accuracy and as stated before, it is good to have a look at the lay of the land.........even found a few good arrowheads in the process
